About 1DayMore4Volleyball

CEV President foreword

I trust many of you still remember February 29, 2016. That was a truly historic day for our Volleyball family when more than 49.000 people participated in the first edition of #1DayMore4Volleyball, thus delivering as many as 4.500 matches across 551 cities all over Europe in 901 different venues.
At that time, this revolutionary action involved 28 CEV member federations with exhibition matches up to the symbolic mark of 29 points organized and played from the Russian Far East to Gibraltar, thereby involving schools, professionals and amateur players, young and old, and even the national men’s Sitting Volleyball teams of Italy and Poland. Even our staff working at the CEV headquarters in Luxembourg joined #1DayMore4Volleyball, playing matches against their colleagues from the Luxembourg Federation. With everyone’s help and involvement, we were able to show that Volleyball is a sport for all!
I am proud to inform you that we wish to repeat the experience and that the 2020 edition will be taking the original concept to the next level. Action is due to take place in conjunction with the next leap day, February 29, 2020. Our aim is to increase participation and to account for as much exposure and visibility as possible, thus making sure that Volleyball goes viral on Social Media. As the name suggests, it is all about “one day for Volleyball”, where our sport will be taking centre stage and inspire especially the younger ones to play the game and live a healthy lifestyle.
I invite all of you to help us make February 29, 2020 another historic day for our Volleyball family. We wish to break the records we set in 2016 and we can only achieve that goal with the active participation of all members of our Volleyball Team!
Together we can make Volleyball history yet again!

History (2016)

Many people still remember – and they do so fondly – February 29, 2016. That was a truly historic day for Volleyball when more than 49,000 people participated in #OneDayMore4Volleyball playing as many as 4,500 matches across 551 cities all over Europe in 901 different venues. The action involved 28 of the 56 CEV member federations with exhibition matches up to the symbolic mark of 29 points organised and played from the Russian Far East to Gibraltar, thereby involving schools, professional and amateur players, young and old, and even the national men’s Sitting Volleyball teams of Italy and Poland. Poland and Serbia were the countries recording the highest number of participants, accounting for some 15,000 and 12,000, respectively. Even the staff working at the CEV headquarters in Luxembourg joined #OneDayMore4Volleyball, playing one Volleyball and one Sitting Volleyball match against their colleagues of the Luxembourg Volleyball Federation and other members of the Grand Duchy’s Volleyball family!
